Alyssa Huerta
Community Mental Health Worker, Housing Navigator, Internship Coordinator
Alyssa Huerta is currently a student at California State University, Fullerton, pursuing a degree in Psychology. Since 2021, she has had the privilege of working with the Moving Forward Psychological Institute, Inc. (MFPI), an experience that has deeply shaped her professional goals and passion for mental health advocacy. Her core values—hard work, community, authenticity, gratitude, continuous learning, growth, and compassion—guide both her personal and professional life.
Alyssa’s journey into the mental health field was inspired by her family, particularly her mother, who emphasized the importance of mental well-being and self-love. Her mother’s unwavering support taught her the importance of self-care in order to care for others. Alyssa’s academic studies and her realization that many individuals in her community lack access to proper mental health support have driven her to pursue a career where she can make a meaningful impact. As a psychology student, Alyssa is focused on clinical work, particularly in becoming an LCSW or LMFT. She is inspired by the transformative work these professionals do and hopes to support others in similar roles.
Outside of her professional life, Alyssa enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, and running her own soap and candle-making business. For self-care, she enjoys journaling, coloring, and listening to music, which help her stay balanced and manage stress.
